Have you ever been part of a group project where someone didn’t carry their weight? Left a meeting wondering “what was that all about?” or learned what people really thought at the informal "after meeting meeting?" If so you have experienced the power of the group to influence individuals (and individuals to influence the group). This presentation will explore what makes groups effective and highlight skills and tools you can use right away as both a group participant and group leader.

Participants will learn tools they can immediately put into use in developing better meetings as well as fundamental group psychology information, topics include:

  • What makes work groups effective
  • The three basic facilitation models
  • Ground rules for effective groups
  • Creating participation and buy-in
  • Group decision making models and how to lead them
  • Group psychology highlights: social loafing, the risky shift, group think and more!
