HR Professional Career Development
Diversity and Inclusion is a 21st Century Workplace Competency that all Human Resource Professionals should master and lead their organization’s D&I efforts in several ways: they consult with non-HR managers on diversity issues and policies; create and maintain an organizational culture of D&I; and identify and implement workplace accommodations.
Senior- and executive-level HR professionals may, in addition to developing and implementing HR plans and strategies to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive workforce, incorporate D&I into the organization’s goals and strategic plan. At all career levels, HR professionals should recognize that diversity goes beyond readily observable differences (e.g., race), be proficient in D&I best practices, and leverage this knowledge to identify ways in which to improve the fairness of organizational policies and procedures. *SHRM BoCK Diversity and Inclusion Competency.
Committee Member Commitment:
1 Hour/ Month for Committee Meetings
30 Minutes/Month for Committee Work
